is a playwright and arts
administrator based in Tiohtià :ke/Montreal, Quebec. She is
currently studying playwriting at the National Theatre School of
Canada, and before that received a BA (Hons) in English Literature
and Creative Writing at Concordia University.
As a playwright, Ella sees the theatre as the perfect place to
cultivate the underappreciated art of uncertainty— to ask questions
and explore problems that are too big to solve in one night, and
play out our most painful, hopeful, terrible, desperate efforts to
live with one another in the meantime. Most recently, she's been
obsessed with the questions: what can we learn from guilt? And how
do we choose between our own needs and the needs of others?
Her plays are frequently genre-infused (horror, sci-fi, magic realism)
but they are at their core intimate stories about people and
relationships.
